tops Software has been in business for more than 20 years. We’re independently owned and growing. Many of our employees have been with us for years, but we’re always on the lookout for top-notch talent.

That means smart, honest, dependable, responsive, friendly, resourceful and kind to animals, among other qualities. Did we say honest? It bears repeating, because that’s super-important to us.

Many of our employees work from home offices around the world, but some are based at our Atlanta-area headquarters.

Below are the areas in which we generally hire, and some of the skills required for each. By the way, if you have a background with Mac computers or orthodontics, call it to our attention and your resume will shoot to the top of the pile for consideration.

Customer Support—Work from home, armed with a telephone and our Mac laptop, helping tops customers with any issues. You should be smart, friendly, patient, good with technology, and able to speak to non-techies in non-technical terms. When tops customers hang up after interacting with you, they should be saying “Wow! That’s the best customer service I’ve ever had!”

Implementation—You’ll help to get new topsOrtho customers on board smoothly. Must communicate clearly, concisely, firmly and pleasantly with customers, salespeople, techies, trainers and more. Highly desired: the diplomatic skills of an Under Secretary of State.

Marketing and Communications—Keeper of the brand, conveyor of the message. You’ll develop and place advertisements, create and launch marketing campaigns, work with the sales team to provide useful materials, keep the website updated, manage customer communications and more. Must think strategically yet be able to act tactically.

General Management/Operations—Keep things running on the right track at the right time. Left and right brains must operate equally well in dealing with people, finances, technology, daily operations and anything else that arises.

Programming—Depending on the project, we use Objective-C, SQL, Unix shell scripting, Python, Perl, Java, HTML and others. You must be able to work independently, quickly, and think “big picture” while working “small details.” Practical geniuses encouraged to apply.

Sales—Hunters sought, but we no like Neanderthals; we like relationship builders and solution-oriented thinkers. Our ideal salesperson has drive and ambition, strong interpersonal communication skills, works well independently, is a technology whiz, a fast learner, and participates cheerfully in minimal record-keeping. Maturity, integrity, team spirit and attention to detail are important. Heavy (regional) travel required.

Training—Travel to the offices of new topsOrtho customers to train the docs and staff. Should be firm, yet funny; concise and an awesome verbal communicator. Technology should be your friend. Must play well with others. Heavy travel required.
